What to Expect at Your First Colour Appointment at Pierrot’s
Your first visit to Pierrot’s starts with a genuine, unhurried consultation, discussing your hair history, your goals, and what’s realistic for your hair before any colour work begins. From there, a patch test may be recommended, the colour service itself is carried out using Aveda’s naturally-derived products, and you’ll leave with clear guidance on caring for your colour at home.
What happens during the consultation?
Every new guest sits down with their stylist to talk through hair history, lifestyle, maintenance preferences, and colour goals. This is also when your stylist will explain what’s achievable in one appointment versus what might need to be built up gradually, particularly for significant colour changes.
Will I need a patch test?
If you have sensitive skin or allergies, sometimes it is recommended by your stylist to have a patch test. Your stylist will let you know during the consultation (or when you book) if this applies to your service.
What does colour actually look like in the weeks after?
Colour, particularly balayage, dimensional blondes, and grey blending, is designed to grow out softly rather than needing an immediate touch-up. In the first couple of weeks, colour settles and softens slightly; by around week 6, most guests are due for a toner refresh if needed; by week 8-12, many low-maintenance colour techniques are just reaching the point of needing a full appointment again. If you have more of regrowth colours then you would be coming in usually between the 4-6 week mark. Your stylist will give you a personalised timeline based on your specific service.
What if I’m not happy with my result?
Pierrot’s consultation process exists specifically to prevent this, however if anything about your result doesn’t match what was discussed, guests are encouraged to raise it with their stylist directly, so it can be addressed properly and we can come up with a solution. We want everyone to feel happy and love their result.

FAQ’s
Your first visit starts with a genuine, unhurried consultation covering your hair history, goals, and what’s realistic, followed by the colour service using Aveda’s naturally-derived products and clear at-home care guidance.
For some new colour guests, a patch test is sometimes recommended before the appointment, especially if you are sentisitive or have allergies. Your stylist will confirm if this applies when you book.
This depends on your colour technique. For lived-in colour and blondes, a toner refresh is generally recommended around the 4–6 week mark, with the colour itself lasting through to around 8–12 weeks. If you’re covering regrowth, appointments are usually needed a little sooner, around the 4–6 week mark. Your stylist will give you a personalised timeline based on your specific colour.
Pierrot’s consultation process exists to prevent this, but guests are encouraged to raise any concerns with their stylist directly, ideally before leaving the salon.
No special preparation is needed, if you have any inspiration images of a look you like we recommend bringing. Your stylist will guide your consultation, covering hair history, lifestyle, and maintenance preferences before any colour work begins.
